What is the correct upgrade path for MCITP: Enterprise Administrator?

Question

So anyway, I passed 70-417 the other day so I'm now MCSA 2012, the question is what other exam(s) need to be taken?

Now on the Microsoft website it says 70-413 and 70-414, but I got a cryptic e-mail the other day which seems to imply I can take 70-980 instead.  The website is a bit vague: https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/exam-70-980.aspx

"Recertification" - how can you be recertified for something that only came into existence with the 2012 certifications?  And it says under "Who should take this exam":

"This exam is for individuals looking to maintain their MCSE: Server Infrastructure certification. It is based on the exam objectives from Exam 413  and Exam 414."

So that makes it sound as though I can take it instead of those two exams.  What's the answer?

hi,

you have to pass 70-413 and 70-414 to get the MCSE certification for the first time. 980 is the recertification exam you have to take two years later.

Doesn't answer my question - I'm an MCITP: Enterprise Administrator.  MCSE: Server Infrastructure only just came into being for Windows 2012, so does that mean I recertify to get it, or do I have to take 413 and 414.  I'm upgrading, I'm not doing it for the first time.

Hi,

If you have MCITP: Ent. Admin then you should also have MCSA: Server 2008 on your transcript.

From MCSA: Server 2008 you can upgrade to MCSA: Server 2012 by passing exam 70-417

From MCSA: Server 2012 you move on to MCSE: Server infra by passing 70-413 and 70-414

how can you "recertify" for something that didn't exist before?

Think you answered your own question. Recertification only applies to those people who are already MCSE.

Recertification is required every 3yrs and if you don't recertify, your MCSE certification becomes Inactive.
